Fair accepting registrations for 'Blue Ribbon' Competitions Allentown Fair announces exhibit entry hours
The Allentown Fair is holding its annual walk-in registration hours for entering exhibits into the fair’s 'blue ribbon' competitions. The entry office located in Agri~Plex on the west end of the Allentown Fairgrounds will be open from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. on Monday, August 2, and will continue from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday, August 3 through Saturday, August 7. Entrants may also register by mail until the Saturday, August 7 deadline.
The registration form can be found in the fair’s 2010 Premium List booklet that details all of the rules and categories for the various competitions. Prior to entry hours, the booklet is available at the Allentown Fair Office located behind the Ritz Barbecue on the Fairgrounds and online.

Multi award-winning Lady Antebellum set to play The Great Allentown Fair.
Plus special guest Danny Gokey
Lady Antebellum, the ACM and CMA Vocal Group of the Year that has been selling out headlining concerts in New York, Los Angeles and Nashville, will top the bill of the final concert announced for The 2010 Great Allentown Fair. Special guest Danny Gokey, one of last year’s American Idol finalists that has embarked on a country music career, will open the show starting at 7 p.m., Thursday, September 2.
Tickets go on sale to the public starting Saturday, July 17. They are $35 for reserved seats on the open-air track (floor) and in the covered Grandstand, and $25 for general admission seating in both locations.

The Search is on for 2010 Allentown Fair Queen Scholarship opportunity applications available for young women living in the tri-county area.
The search is on for a “royal” promoter of agriculture and goodwill ambassador, better known as The 2010 Great Allentown Fair Queen. The Lehigh County Agricultural Society, the nonprofit organization that has been operating the fair for 158 years, is looking for contestants from Lehigh, Northampton and Berks counties that possess an ability to communicate enthusiasm for local farming and the agricultural industry.
Young women ages 16 to 20 years of age are encouraged to enter the competition that awards a $1,000 scholarship to the winner who will reign over various activities at the upcoming Allentown Fair running August 31-September 6.

Fair looking for ‘blue ribbon’ contestants. Rules for entering Fair exhibits and contests now available.
The Great Allentown Fair’s Premium List booklets, that detail the procedures for entering and categories for the fair’s blue ribbon competitions, are now available at the Allentown Fairground’s main and box offices. For exhibitors’ additional convenience, PDF versions of each book are available for downloading on the Fair’s Web site at www.allentownfairpa.org. Placement ribbons and cash prizes are awarded in each of the exhibitor categories judged the weekend before and throughout fair week running August 31- September 6.

Weezer with special guest The Gaslight Anthem.
Hot off of Bamboozle on to Bonnaroo, alt band Weezer will follow up a swing of North American and European major rock festivals with a headlining date at The Great Allentown Fair on Wednesday, September 1.
Special guest will be New Jersey’s alt/folk punk rockers The Gaslight Anthem.
Tickets for the concert go on sale to the public at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 5. They are $49 for general admission festival standing room on the outdoor track (floor) and reserved seats in the covered Grandstand.

Rush
Rush, the legendary band from Canada that looms large among rock royalty with 24 certified gold and 14 platinum selling records, will open The Great Allentown Fair on Tuesday, August 31.
Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. show will go on sale to the public starting Saturday, April 24. Reserved seats on the outdoor track (floor) are $85. Reserved seats undercover in the Grandstand are $85 and $69. Unreserved grab seats that are on the sides of the reserved seating in both locations are $49.

Justin Bieber
Ready, set, SCRE-E-E-AM—Justin Bieber coming to Allentown Fair
The first headlining national tour starring Pop/R&B singer-musician, teen sensation Justin Bieber has just been announced and The Great Allentown Fair will be its Saturday, September 4 stop. Sean Kingston, a reggae fusion singer/rapper, will open the show. Tickets for the 7 p.m. show will go on sale to the public starting Saturday, March 27. They are $49 for reserved seats located on the outdoor track (floor) and in the undercover Grandstand. Unreserved grab seats that are on the sides of the reserved seating in both locations are $39.

Keith Urban
On Saturday, November 21, The Great Allentown Fair is launching its concert ticket sale for Keith Urban, the New Zealand-born, Australian-raised country superstar who is the first headliner announced for the fair’s 2010 Grandstand show line-up. His current single, “Only You Can Love Me This Way” topped Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart last week.

What do you say to a performer that sold 19,000 tickets to two shows at The 2009 Great Allentown Fair? According to fair operators, you say, "Hurry back next year!" Members of the Lehigh County Agricultural Society, the nonprofit organization that operates the fair, got more than just a financial report and the year in review at their annual meeting this morning (Wednesday, December 16). Bonnie Brosious, the fair’s marketing director and talent buyer, surprised them with the news that stand-up comedian and ventriloquist Jeff Dunham will return to perform at the 2010 fair on Sunday, September 5.
